Creativity abounds within the transgender and nonbinary community, especially through the medium of comics and graphic novels. Celebrate these stories at TRANSformative Comics! This all-ages event features author talks from celebrated graphic novelists, opportunities to create your own art, a special storytime, visits from community partners, and more.

The Emergence of the Queer Zine in Los Angeles
Los Angeles has a unique history in the evolution of the zines in general, and specifically in the emergence of queer zines. This presentation will cover the emergence of a queer sensibility in early science fiction fan-zines and trace the development of queer-specific zines and other early publications through the gay rights movement to the punk rock era. The images presented will be pulled from private collections and from the ONE Archives at the USC Libraries.

Central 100 Oral History Project
We invite you to share your stories and memories of Central Library via a short video or audio recording that will become part of the LAPL Archives. No prior registration is needed. Come to the Octavia Lab on the day of the event to sign up for a short recording slot, and our staff will facilitate the recordings. We can’t wait to hear what Central Library means to you!
