About the Event

A quick guide to using open source and free tools to save your digital family photos and create your own personal archive.

Participants will learn:

  • How to make a digital family photo album to share with friends and relatives
  • Tools for scanning, exporting, and curating family photos
  • Digital autonomy outside iPhotos and Google Photos
  • Free and open-source tools for finding duplicate files on your computer and hard drive

A laptop (either Mac or Windows) is recommended, but not required. No previous experience is needed.

The Los Angeles Public Library offers this program as part of a month-long series centering personal archiving, presented by Community: Your Archive, Your Legacy, an initiative supported by the Library Foundation of Los Angeles and funded by the Mellon Foundation.

For disability-related accommodations, please call (213) 228-7430 at least five business days prior to the event. The City will make every effort to accommodate requests received with less notice.
