Tendremos que esperar hasta el verano de 2028 para que Los Ángeles albergue los Juegos de la XXXIV Olimpiada, pero cuando lo hagamos, nos uniremos a París y Londres como la tercera ciudad en albergar los Juegos de Verano tres veces, habiéndolo hecho previamente en 1932 y, como es bien sabido, en 1984.
Los Juegos Olímpicos de Verano de 1984 fueron uno de los mayores logros de la ciudad. Durante dos semanas, a finales de julio y principios de agosto de ese año, Estados Unidos se alzó con 174 medallas, incluidas 83 de oro.
