What is an e-card?

The e­-card is an electronically produced and distributed library card. With an e-­card you can access e-Media, Research & Homework, and Online Learning.

Who needs an e-card?

The e-card is for anyone who wishes to access the library’s resources but who does not already have a physical library card. If you already have a physical library card or a Student Success Card but can't remember your library card number, contact us to recover your account.

I don't live in Los Angeles, may I still apply for an e-card?

Although you must be an L. A. City resident to be eligible for an e-card, anyone may apply for a full-access library card by visiting one of our library locations with identification and proof of address.

How do I get an e-card?

Complete the e-card application and you will immediately receive your e-card number by email. You will then be ready to use our resources. However, in order to keep your e-card active you must respond to instructions on the follow-up verification postcard sent to the address used in the registration.

Will the e-card expire?

When your e-card expires you can renew in person or apply for a full-access card at any Los Angeles Public Library location.

What if I lose my e-card, forget my number, etc.?

If your e­-card has been lost or forgotten, please report it to your local library location as soon as possible. After reporting the loss to the library, you can re-apply for an e-card.
