Health Insurance: What You Need to Know

Send this page via E-mail

The Affordable Care Act (also referred to as Obamacare) requires United States citizens to be covered by health insurance or pay a penalty. Depending on your  income level, that insurance may be subsidized. If you already have health  insurance through your employer, you are not required to make changes.

  • If you are uninsured and you are a California resident, you may visit the Covered California Website or call for assistance over the phone. Covered California will help you determine whether you qualify for MediCal or subsidies.
  • If you are a Los Angeles resident and you want to find out more about Medi-Cal, visit Healthy Way LA
  • Are you turning 65 and interested in enrolling in Medicare? Are you a Medicare member with questions about Medicare? Visit  Medicare.gov
  • If you are not from California or if you just want to learn more about the Affordable Care Act (Obamacare) in general, visit the Health Insurance Marketplace.
