This is a Subject Guide for Science: Chemistry:  Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry for grades 9 - 12.  For the most part, the subjects covered by this guide are those listed under the California Department of Education Standards.

Catalog Search Strategies

When looking for materials in the LAPL catalog, it is helpful to do a search using either the Subject Heading or Subject Browse option to target the most relevant items.

Summary:  Covers every aspect of chemistry.  Presents 973 problems with their clearly outlined solutions.  This book is an excellent resource for learning challenging concepts. It could be recommended to students needing help with specific types of homework problems.  It is also a good test review book.

Access Science
AccessScience is the electronic counterpart of the 20-volumer McGraw-Hill Encyclopedia of Science and Technology including the Research Updates from the McGraw-Hill Yearbooks.  It contains full text of over 8,500 online articles written by experts in science and technology.  It also includes 13,000 illustrations and graphics, 110,000 definitions of technical terms and 2,00 biographies of well-known scientists.  It has a multimedia section including animated representation of chemical principles and video biographies.  Its contributors include more than 5,000 researchers including 36 Nobel Prize winners.

Khan Academy
Khan Academy offers 2700 video lessons on subjects including chemistry.  All lessons and practice exercise are free.
