Film Screening: The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra

About the Event

The Lost Skeleton will rise! Larry Blamire obviously loves ‘50s b-movies like Creature With the Atom Brain and Earth Versus the Flying Saucers and this is his hilarious black-and-white tribute to them, featuring monsters, aliens, telepathy, pseudoscience, exotica, wooden acting, stiff line delivery, clunky editing, egregious plot holes, ultra-cheap special effects and of course, a classic Bronson Canyon setting. A meteorite falls in the foothills, noticed by a scientist and his wife out for a drive; an alien couple crash-lands and begin searching for the meteorite because it holds the “atmosphereum” they need to repair their spaceship; the mutant on board the spaceship gets loose… the skeleton lying in Cadavra Cave also wants the atmosphereum, which will enable him to rise and rule… many dubious plot twists unfold… will The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra (2001, rated PG) achieve world domination (or at least dominate the cast of this movie) before the space travelers can grab the atmosphereum and use it to head back to their own planet? Somewhere between Roger Corman, Ed Wood and Jim Jarmusch stir the restless bones of this deader-than-deadpan romp.
