Super Mamas was co-founded by sisters Paulina and Bricia Lopez. In 2015, the sisters launched the Super Mamás Podcast, a judgment-free space where new, experienced, and expecting mothers can come together to not only exchange knowledge but provide support for one another during the emotional ups and downs of motherhood. The podcast has become the fastest growing parenting podcast to date, reaching thousands of moms across the country every week.
Paulina Lopez-Velazquez was born in Oaxaca, Mexico, where she spent the first 12 years of her life. In 1994, her father decided to move her entire family to Los Angeles after opening the now-iconic Guelaguetza Restaurant in Koreatown. After completing degrees in both the United States and Mexico, Paulina took over Guelaguetza Food Products and eventually, along with her siblings, took over the award-winning Guelaguetza Restaurant. Paulina lives in Koreatown with her husband and three daughters Krista, Sabina, and Zixta. Her passions include immigration rights and girls’ and women’s education.
Bricia Lopez is an acclaimed author, chef, and entrepreneur. She is a partner at Guelaguetza Restaurant and a staunch proponent of Oaxacan culture, and an integral figure in the gastronomic culture of Los Angeles. Her book, Oaxaca: Home Cooking from the Heart of Mexico launched in the fall of 2019 and is a 2020 James Beard nominee. She lives in LA with her husband, son, and newborn daughter.
