Yours Truly by Abby Jimenez follows Dr. Briana Ortiz, a talented and confident ER doctor whose life is in turmoil—her divorce is nearly finalized, her ex-husband is engaged to her former best friend, and her beloved brother desperately needs a kidney transplant. On top of all that, she’s vying for the chief position against the new hire Dr. Jacob Maddox, whose social anxiety causes him to have a bad first impression. However, through the power of letters, Briana and Jacob becomes closer than expected, and their bond only intensifies when Jacob offers his kidney to Briana’s brother. Through the twists and turns of their relationship, Jacob and Briana must find out if love is worth it despite the terrors that come with it.
I enjoyed this book! It’s cheesy and will make you cringe at some parts, but at the end of the day, that’s what makes romance novels so good. The setting of the book is very similar to Grey’s Anatomy (one of my favorite TV shows), which prompted me to read the book in the first place, but exceeded my expectations with its funny banter, heartfelt letters, and an overall good plot line with a satisfying ending. I would highly recommend this book, especially if you love Grey’s Anatomy just as much as I do!
