Teenscape Department, Central Library,
Teen Book Fest Logo

The Historical Fiction panel will take place on Saturday, October 12 at 11am in Meeting Room A.

Great historical fiction transports us to other places and times while telling us stories we can’t forget. The authors on this panel have written about Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge and the Killing Fields, Parisian society in the 1880s, and World War II pilots breaking the gender and color barriers.

Meet our panelists!

Patricia McCormick, author of Never Fall Down

Based on the life of Cambodian peace activist Arn Chorn-Pond, Never Fall Down follows Arn’s story from the age of 11, when he is separated from his family and forced into a Khmer Rouge labor camp. When the soldiers ask for musicians, Arn volunteers - but the decision that saves his life will also take him into the middle of the Killing Fields.

Elizabeth Ross, author of Belle Epoque

In the cutthroat world of Paris debutantes, everyone is looking for an edge when it comes to ensuring a successful debut season. That’s where the Durandeau Agency comes in with their staff of unattractive women who serve as beauty “foils.” Hire a beauty foil, and become more attractive instantly. When Maude Pichon is matched with the daughter of a countess, she gains access to Paris’s most elite circles, but the more she learns about her client, the more she’s troubled by the deception.
