As a library cardholder and employee of the Los Angeles Public Library, I have benefited from the online learning opportunities that the library offers. Quality lifelong learning online classes and video tutorials are available 24/7 to anyone with a library card. These classes are offered at no cost to library cardholders and can be taken advantage of through any electronic device with internet access. These resources make it easy to pick up a new hobby or even improve job skills, all from the convenience of home.
For instance, Universal Class is an electronic resource that includes lifelong learning courses in over 30 subject areas, many of which offer continuing education units (CEUs). More than 500 courses are available and are all designed and led by professional instructors to build deeper understanding and mastery of the subject matter. These online classes include videos, assignments, quizzes, tests, and options for social media interaction with other learners. Learners can take multiple classes and learn at their own pace.
Additionally, I’m excited to announce that The Great Courses video collection is now available via OverDrive! There are over 200 college-level selections to choose from across a range of topics and subjects. The Great Courses are uniquely crafted for lifelong learners by offering immersive learning experiences. Stream from a web browser or the Overdrive app at your convenience. The Great Courses and Universal Class aren't the only professional and personal learning opportunities we offer. In fact, from new skills to new languages, we have something for everyone. The library can help you find the best tools for learning whatever you want. Check out some of what we offer here:
