Dearest LeBron,

Welcome to Los Angeles! From all of us at the Los Angeles Public Library, we are so excited you’re here. In honor of your move to the Lakers, we’d like to present you with your very own library card. It’s good in all of our 73 locations and of course, all our amazing online services. It’s the Library’s way of saying we’re glad you’re here. Your closest branch will be the Brentwood Library, and they have a ton of great programs for the whole family to enjoy.

We have a whole bunch of books on the Lakers if you need to do some research on team history and lore. We also have lots of books and e-media all about you! See, we love you already.

We heard about the LeBron James Family Foundation and your I Promise initiatives. The Library’s mission fits right in with your charitable organizations. We also want our kids to excel in school and beyond, and with programs like our free online tutoring, Student Smart, Student Zones and Teens Leading Change, we think you will feel right at home.

If you are feeling homesick for your local Ohio Newspapers, you can log in to PressReader and catch up what you’re missing. We also have Lynda.com, so if you are interested in learning more about photography, or music production or any new hobbies you’d like to take up now that you are here, you only need to log in with your new library card!

We got you covered LeBron, you can watch movies on Kanopy, stream music on Hoopla and Freegal, and if you like listening to audiobooks or reading magazines for those long plane rides around the country, we have those too on Overdrive and RB Digital.

Your new library card is like a golden key to our fair city, and we are so happy to get to know you.

Sincerely,

John Szabo, City Librarian, and the entire Los Angeles Public Library team
