Along with the Grilled Cheese Invitational, spring break is officially here for LAUSD students! Los Angeles has quite a bit to offer for those of you staying in town - sunshine, surf, hanging out with your friends, movies to watch, studying and so much more.

IF your teachers gave you special projects to work on, we encourage you to get those out of the way as soon as possible (and, of course, you can come to the library for help with assignments). Don’t wait until Saturday or Sunday to get started! But if you are schoolwork free, check out what Central Library has to offer this week:

For TEENS: Tuesday, April 15th is Tax Day, but since you don’t have tax deadlines to worry about why not visit Teen’Scape and “Tell Us What You Want” from 4-5 pm. At Game Day on Friday, April 18 at 3:30, you can play games on our Wii or Xbox 360 Kinect, but we have a selection of old school board and card games to choose from, too. Visit Teen’Scape on Saturday, April 19th from 2:30 to 3:30 pm, for our Digital Storytelling Workshop using iMovie, photos, and a scanner to record your story. Afterwards, stick around if your brain is up to the challenge of solving Logic Puzzles from 4-5 pm.

For CHILDREN: Children’s Literature has Family Storytime on Tuesday, April 15th with “Dinosaurs Roar!” from 2-3 pm including puppets and prehistoric fun. The Family Activity on Thursday, April 17th will highlight “Science Fun” with hands-on science experiments for children 5-11 years old from 2-3 pm. Friday, April 18th the Family Activity involves “Computer Fun” and an hour of digital activities from 2-3 pm. Science Day 2014 is on Saturday, April 19th from 1-3 pm outside of the Taper Auditorium in the courtyards - check out the “Silly Science Show” and then the “Wild Things and Animals of Prey”, toddlers and preschoolers are as welcome as the older children!
