With International Book Lovers Day coming hot on the heels of International Cat Lovers Day, we thought it would be fun to make a reading list for people who love both books and cats! From Pete the Cat to all of the cats in T.S Eliot’s Old Possum’s Book of Practical Cats, the book that inspired Cats:The Musical, our furry friends have made many appearances in literature. Judging by the way these books circulate at the library, many, many people enjoy reading about them.
We have plenty of true stories about cats, such as Homer's Odyssey: A Fearless Feline Tale, or How I Learned About Love and Life With a Blind Wonder Cat by Gwen Cooper, A Street Cat Named Bob and How He Saved My Life by James Bowen, and Close Encounters of the Furred Kind by Tom Cox.
There are also those cat loving authors who are so inspired by our mischievous, mysterious, adventurous feline friends that they had to create stories, and sometimes entire series, about them. Whether you’re curling up with your cat, reading to your cat, or just want to enjoy some quality feline antics, these cats of fiction are for you! To find more cats of fiction, check out our database Novelist, which you can access from the library or at home with your library card number and PIN.
