	On this day in 1933, Ruth Bader Ginsburg was born. Ginsburg was appointed to the Supreme Court of the United States in 1993. Before becoming a judge, her career as a lawyer had been largely devoted to fighting gender discrimination. In recent years, Ginsburg has become something of a pop culture icon, even being parodied on Saturday Night Live. 	On this day in 1943, David Cronenberg was born. Cronenberg's films often deal with our fear of our bodies and the infections and transformations they are subject to, a theme he has often explored through horror or science-fiction. Among his best-known movies are Scanners, The Fly, and Dead Ringers. Cronenberg's 2012 movie Cosmopolis stars Robert Pattinson as a Wall Street trader whose life seems to be crumbling around him; it's available for streaming at Hoopla.
	And on this day in 1943, Sly Stone was born. Stone was the leader of Sly and the Family Stone, who mixed R&B, funk, and psychedelia to create a sound all their own in the late 1960s. Among their popular hits are "Dance to the Music," "Everyday People," and "Hot Fun in the Summertime." In recent years, the music of Sly and the Family Stone has been frequently sampled by R&B and rap artists who claim Stone as a major inspiration.
