Tlacopan Aztec Fire Dancers - Latino Heritage Month

Wednesday, October 08, 2014

6:30pm to 7:30pm

Come celebrate Latino Heritage Month at the Sun Valley Library with the Tlacopan Aztec Fire Dancers!

These traditional Aztec dancers will perform several different ceremonial dances in traditional costume, and discuss their cultural significance.  Each dancer's regalia represents an Aztec spirit or a specific role in Aztec society, while the dances honor elements of Aztec heritage including the four cardinal directions as well as the sun, the wind and mother-earth.  The dancers will be accompanied by pre-hispanic instruments including the hueheutl (drum), teponaxtli (horizontal two-tongued drum), hand rattles, conch shells and flutes.

A wonderful cultural event for the Sun Valley community!

This program is free, but space is limited.
