Discover the cutting-edge innovations at your neighborhood library. In celebration of Teen Tech Week, the Echo Park branch presents its first Technology Petting Zoo.

Bring your own device or test-drive ours. Download free music, IMAX movies and e-books and audiobooks; try cool smartphone apps like Super8, FishEyeLens, LAPL To Go and TED Talks; learn how to get a real-time tutor for any grade or subject via chat; shoot and edit video with a FLIP camera then add music to create a vlog; photo-edit with Google’s freeware Picasa; or compete in texting contests for prizes. Zookeepers will be on had to guide visitors through each booth of techCritters. All ages are welcome. Drop in anytime between 4:00 and 7:30 p.m.

You can support the Los Angeles Public Library in several ways:

Join a “Friends” group. There is a “Friends of the Library” group for most branch libraries and departments of the Central Library. Friends groups raise money for improvements to their library through memberships, used book sales and other activities. For more information click here or talk to your local librarian.

Join the Library Foundation of Los Angeles. The Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that raises funds for Library enhancement programs such as adult and early literacy, children and teen reading clubs, technology, and cultural programs.
