In Korean, maum means the mind, soul or spirit. Maum meditation started in South Korea by Woo Myung. This form of meditation teaches that mind and body are stored with images made up of memories and past experiences. These images, in turn, shape beliefs and conditioned behaviors. Maum meditation seeks to cleanse the mind by throwing away the things that falsely define us. This process ultimately leads to discovering true selves and results in healthy mind and body.
