BESTFriends Fall Program and Luncheon

Héctor Tobar will share his exclusive story of the August 2010 Copiapó mining accident in Chile

Héctor Tobar, best selling author and Pulitzer Prize winner will talk about the 33 Chilean miners who were trapped underground for 69 days in August 2010.  Told from the point of view of the miners and their families, Tobar's forthcoming book describes the events both during the entrapment and after the rescue.  Born and raised in Los Angeles, Mr. Tobar’s recent novel, The Barbarian Nurseries, has won many prizes including the California Book Award for 2012 and the New York Times Notable Book for 2011.  Limited seating is available so please register early.

Program is free.  Cost for luncheon:  $15.00 (members)  $20.00 (non-members)
