In honor of Women's History Month we are proud to present two classic films from the Golden Age of Mexican Cinema starring two of Mexico's greatest actresses. We begin on March 8 with "Dona Barbara," (1943) starring Maria Felix in the role that made her famous, as a ruthless landowner in the plains of Venezuela. We finish on March 29 with Dolores del Rio in "Maria Candelaria," (1943). This tragic story of an indigenous woman rejected by her fellow villagers was the first Latin American film to win the grand prize at Cannes. These films are in Spanish and not subtitled, but even non-Spanish speakers can enjoy the fabulous cinematography, in glorious black and white.
