Costume Design Workshop presented by Center Theatre Group

Saturday, April 12, 2014

Come in to the Robert Louis Stevenson Branch for a special costume workshop, presented by Center Theatre Group, and you will learn about how costumes are made for the stage and even sketch your own designs! No reservations are necessary for the workshop.

Center Theatre Group, L.A.’s leading non-profit theatre company, is bringing costume displays and costume design workshops to you with the help of local libraries.  During the early 1900s, Boyle Heights was L.A.’s most diverse neighborhood with residents coming from all around the world. In the same way that diverse people come together in Boyle Heights, Center Theatre Group also brings a variety of cultures onto our stages. Teams of artists – including directors, actors, designers – work together to tell these stories from our community and our world. And by visiting these displays, you can see how costume designers help tell the stories with the clothes they imagine and create for the actors onstage.

Stop by any Boyle Heights library during its regular business hours to visit the displays. The Robert Louis Stevenson Library will be displaying costumes from the Luis Valdez play Zoot Suit.
