Join the Sunland-Tujunga Book Club in reading THEIR EYES WERE WATCHING GOD by Zora Neale Hurston.

Janie Crawford, a Southern Black woman in the 1930's, journeys from being a free-spirited girl to a woman of independence and substance.

Author, Zora Neale Hurston was an American folklorist, anthropologist, and author of four novels and more than 50 published short stories, plays, and essays. Their Eyes Were Watching God has come to be regarded as a seminal work in both African-American literature and women's literature. TIME included the novel in its 2005 list of the 100 best English-language novels published since 1923. The novel was published in 1937.
