Description:

Do you like to meet authors?  Are you thinking of becoming one?  Barry Lancet, author of the newly published Japantown will be speaking in the meeting room of the Little Tokyo Branch Library on Saturday, October 19, from 2:30-3:30 pm.  Library Journal has written, "Lancet has a gift for pacing and keeps the reader engaged and guessing until the very end."  In its starred review, Publishers Weekly wrote in part, "Lancet successfully places a PI in an international thriller plot in his highly entertaining debut . . . Readers will want to see more of the talented Jim Brodie, with his expertise in Japanese culture, history, and martial arts."  Kirkus Review writes, "[Lancet] draws upon his familiarity with the terrain, local history and Japanese culture to create an East-West adventure that informs as it thrills. . . . the intricate plot is skillfully developed, the action never flags and the climax is gripping. A fresh voice in crime fiction."

Lancet has a unique perspective of Japan and America, having spent a majority of his adult life in Japan.  Lancet landed a position at one of the country's top publishing houses, and in twenty-five years he developed numerous books across many fields but mostly on Japanese culture - including art, crafts, cuisine, history, fiction, Zen gardens, martial arts, Asian philosophy, and more. All of which were sold in the United States, Europe, and the rest of the world. The work opened doors to many traditional worlds, lending a unique insider's view to his own writing.

Come and listen to a master storyteller for free!  This event follows directly after the free living trust and wills seminar by attorney Paul Velasco.
