Description:

Celebrating African American History Month at Playa Vista Branch Library, Charles Reese, actor and educator, presents a multi-media lecture and discussion on James Baldwin's meeting with Robert Kennedy, Lena Horne and leaders of the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s.  Portions of the PBS documentary "Slavery By Another Name" will be shown at this event.  This presentation is part of our three year series Created Equal: America’s Civil Rights Struggle, which is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Humanities to encourage community discussion of America’s civil rights history. NEH has partnered with the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.
