Parents: Early Literacy - Singing

Songs are a fun way to learn about language. 

  • Sing the alphabet song to learn about letters.
     
  • Sing rhyming songs so children hear the different sounds in words.
     
  • Clap along to the rhythms in songs so children hear the syllables in words.
     
  • Sing the songs you love.  Your child will love them, too – even if you’re not a very good singer!
     
  • Check out music CDs and song books at your local library.
