The Urban Libraries Council (ULC) recognized the Los Angeles Public Library as one of its ten Top Innovators for 2013 during the ULC Annual Forum, June 27-28, in Chicago.
“Songs in the Key of L.A.,” an exhibit of historic sheet music covers from the Los Angeles Public Library’s collection, offers a rare view of the powerful role music has played in defining the image of Los Angeles and Southern California. The exhibit, which displays select
LAPL’s Summer Lunch program is off to a successful start with more than 600 kids and teens receiving free meals in the first two weeks of the program. The free lunch program is sponsored by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank and is open to anyone age 18 and under.
Councilmember Tom LaBonge and City Librarian John Szabo unveiled a long forgotten historic library monument to the public for the first time in decades on Monday at the Memorial Branch Library.
