- The Board of Library Commissioners is proposing the following changes to the Library's Fines/Fees Schedule and Loan Period, to be effective July 1, 2008.
- The earlier proposed $1.00 fee for reserving books has been rescinded.
- The daily overdue fine for adult material will increase from 25 cents to 30 cents.
- The loan period for books, magazines and audiobooks will decrease from 3 weeks to 2 weeks. (Items may be renewed 3 times if they have not been reserved by other patrons.)
- Read to Me L.A. is a free program that teaches parents and caregivers how to read to their preschool children and help them become successful readers.
- The Central Library Docents are looking for volunteers.
- Pay fines online or get e-mail notifications of Los Angeles Public Library events.

- InfoNow reference service now offers Instant Messaging (IM) access.
