Parents: Early Literacy - Writing

Send this page via E-mail

Reading and writing go together.

• Give your child lots of opportunities to draw and color.  Writing begins with scribbling.

• Let children “sign” their names to drawings.  As they grow older, children can begin to write the letters in their names.

• Talk to your children about what they draw, and write down what they say.  These “stories” help make a connection between spoken and printed language.
