Tony Cliff's "Delilah Dirk & the King’s Shilling"

Marissa Thompson, Young Adult Librarian, North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Library,

There are few books quite as exciting as a graphic novel. Whether you’re a fan of superheroes or just enjoy the idea of a story told through pictures set in panels, there is a graphic novel for you. Years ago, most comics could only be found in the Sunday funnies or in comic shops. Now bookstores and libraries around the country boast large graphic novel collections, with everything from Tintin to Naruto to The Walking Dead.

As the reading world continues to embrace graphic novels, one particular series has stood out to me as a reader: Delilah Dirk! If you haven’t heard of Ms. Dirk, you can follow her adventures at She’s a feisty, not-very-proper lady gallivanting around the 19th Century world, causing mischief and finding adventure wherever she goes.

The Los Angeles Public Library’s North Hollywood Amelia Earhart Regional Branch is excited to present New York Times’ bestselling graphic novel author and Eisner award nominee Tony Cliff on Monday, March 14th, at 5:00pm!

Mr. Cliff is a versatile illustrator, animator, and author, most famously known for his “Delilah Dirk” series. His second book in the “Delilah Dirk” series, “Delilah Dirk & the King’s Shilling” debuts March 8th. We will be discussing his new book with Mr. Cliff, as well as his experience in the publishing, illustration, and animation industries.
