READ! and The Force will be with you always.

Danica Sheridan, Young Adult Librarian, Silver Lake Branch Library,

This Saturday, Oct. 10th we celebrate Star Wars Reads Day IV at the Silver Lake Library. ALL AGES are invited to join us for fun & literacy from 11am-1pm. We’ll have games, activities, prizes, and surprises throughout the event as well as an extensive display of books & movies you can check-out. Costumes are encouraged!

The expanded universe of Star Wars first appeared in book form nearly 40 years ago with the publication of a trio of novelizations of the first three films. Since then, hundreds of titles have been published including comic books, art books, dictionaries, role-playing gamebooks, audio recordings, and technical journals. Many were “authorized”, many were not. But Star Wars Reads Day (SWRD) certainly is. Lucasfilm and its publishing partners initiated SWRD in 2012 to celebrate reading and promote all things Star Wars. Since then it has grown in size and scope leading to this year’s expected reach of thousands of events worldwide.

A library’s purpose is to assist patrons in satisfying their information needs. We can even help you learn more about an imagined universe and lend you books that take you to a galaxies far, far away…
