Volunteer tutors are registered for a training as part of their interview with an Adult Literacy Center Coordinator. The training may be done in person or online. Due to increased interest, some in-person workshops fill up and registration closes 3 to 4 weeks before the training date. Please check with the Literacy Coordinator about workshop availability.
Online workshops are done on your own. You will be assigned a username and password by the Online Training Manager. You have two weeks to finish to the workshop. Once you have completed the workshop, notification will be sent to the Online Training Manager, who will notify your Adult Literacy Coordinator.
In-person workshops are held on Saturdays from 10:00 am to 2:30 pm, except for the April Workshop, which is held on a weekday from 12:30 to 5:00 pm. Volunteer tutors need to be present for the entire workshop. Refreshments will be provided.
Student assignments are made at the end of the training. If an emergency prevents you from attending the in-person training, call 213.228.7543 as soon as possible to cancel. If you cannot complete the online training in time, please notify the Online Training Manager at ldenisci@lapl.org
