Hi Boys and Girls!

“Los Angeles Public Library: Treasured Islands,” is the theme for this summer’s children’s reading club.  And, isn’t it true that the libraries are sanctuaries of information, education and recreation?  At the library you can check out books, cd’s and DVD’s.  You can use computers. You can attend puppet shows, magic shows and craft programs.  You can join a book club or meet and speak to an author.

There are 72 Los Angeles Public Libraries.  They are conveniently located in neighborhoods across the city.  Performer programs and incentives are free, thanks to the money raised by the Library Foundation.  There is no charge for taking books home when you get a free library card. Los Angeles Public Library is here for everyone.

Children should come to their local branch in June and sign up for the summer reading club.  Kids who read during the summer will receive a “Los Angeles Public Library: Treasured Islands” folder, bookmark and stickers.  Drop by and get to know the friendly librarians. The library is your place to kick back and relax with an adventure story, a poetry book, or an exciting mystery.

Make your LA Public Library your headquarters for fun!
