An engineer and lawyer, Freeman has served in various government positions including energy adviser to President Carter. He is the author of Energy: The New Era.

As National Manager of the Advanced Technologies Group at Toyota USA Reinert is responsible for the long-range product planning for all alternative fuel Toyota vehicles, including gasoline-electric hypbrids such as the Prius; fuel cell hybrids; full-featured electric vehicles; city electric vehicles and sustainable transtportation systems. Prior to joining Toyota, Reinert developed advanced neural network applications and advanced energy systems for Hewlett Packard and alternative energy solutions for Bell Labs.
