Expelled from the University of Tehran for refusing to wear the veil, Azar Nafisi defied Islamic morality squads to teach forbidden Western classics in Iran. Nafisi is currently a professor at Johns Hopkins (Paul Nitze School for Advanced International Studies). She is the author of "Anti-Terra: A Critical Study of Vladimir Nabokov's Novels." With Iran-born novelist Gina Nahai, she discusses the freedoms that literature can bring.

"Reading Lolita in Tehran" is "a stirring account of the pleasures and deepening of consciousness that result from an encounter with great literature and with an inspired teacher."
