Whether you’re an automotive amateur or a trained mechanic, Los Angeles Public Library has print and online resources to help you repair, restore, buy, and sell cars.

View standard auto repair manuals online with photographs, diagnostics, step-by-step repair procedures, maintenance schedules, wiring diagrams, recalls and Technical Service Bulletins for automobiles and light trucks.

Testing & Education Reference Center

The Testing & Education Reference Center has test preparation classes for ASE Automotive in English and Spanish, and the ASE Collision Refinish and ASE Medium/Heavy Truck test preparation classes in English.

Print Resources

The library has printed automotive maintenance and repair manuals, ASE Test Guides, and general interest books on cars, motorcycles, trucks and more. To see what we have available in print, search in the library's online catalog (lapl.org) from home or at the library.

If you’re interested in repair manuals, type the make and model of the car you would like to repair into the catalog search field, along with the word “repair”. For example, type “Honda Accord repair”. You can browse through the list to find the appropriate year and availability.
