Mozart: Alpha & Omega

Caroline Zakarian, Librarian, Lifelong Learning Department,

On Sunday, May 22 nd the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera performed Mozart: Alpha & Omega in front of a standing-room only crowd in the Taper Auditorium. This title is derived from the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet. This program was divided into two parts with the first part being a Mozart mix
with songs from Don Giovanni, The Abduction from the Seraglio, Cosi Fan Tutte, The Marriage of Figaro and his final opera, The Magic Flute. The second part included songs from the Idomeneo Opera that they were locally performing.

In this brief video Yayra Sanchez sings “Ach ich fuhls” from The Magic Flute while Joshua Johnson sings “Se il tuo duol, se il mio” from Idomeneo. The last part of the video features the song “Andro ramingo e solo” sung by the quartet of Leona Levenson, Lei Shi, Gretje Angell and Linda Jackson.

It is always a treat when the Los Angeles Metropolitan Opera performs at Central Library and they will be back again. Please check our monthly calendar for future performances.
