Victoria "V.E." Schwab is a celebrated author of books for young adults. Her best-selling teen titles include The Near Witch, The Archived, The Unbound, This Savage Song and Our Dark Duet. She also has two adult series: The Darker Shades of Magic: A Darker Shade of Magic, A Gathering of Shadows and A Conjuring of Light; and The Villains series: Vicious and, this September’s highly anticipated Vengeful. Schwab's work has received critical acclaim, with her books being optioned for TV and film, and in featured reviews for The New York Times and Entertainment Weekly.
Victoria describes herself as being "the product of a British mother, a Beverly Hills father, and a southern upbringing. Because of this, I have been known to say 'tom-ah-toes,' 'like,' and 'y’all.'" She has also been known to address the readers of her blog as "lovelies." When she is not on tour, she splits her time between Nashville, where she grew up, rural France, where her family lives, and Edinburgh, where she “buried her heart”.
Earlier this month, Ms. Schwab had the honor of delivering the sixth annual Tolkien Lecture at Pembroke College in Oxford, England. In her talk titled In Search of Doors, she discussed her personal experiences writing fantasy literature, and explored the many facets of fantasy fiction writing.
