As it has been for 21 of the last 22 weeks, Donna Tartt's The Goldfinch is on top of the Los Angeles Times Hardcover Fiction list. Debuting on the Hardcover Nonfiction List at #1 this week is The Promise of a Pencil: How an Ordinary Person Can Create Extraordinary Change by Adam Braun.

In addition to The Promise of a Pencil, new on the Hardcover list this week are The Story of the Jews, The: Finding the Words 1000 BC-1492 AD by Simon Schama and Savage Harvest: A Tale of Cannibals, Colonialism, and Michael Rockefeller's Tragic Quest for Primitive Art by Carl Hoffman.

There are three new novels on the Fiction List, Harlen Coben's newest thriller, Missing YouThe Cairo Affair a new standalone by Olen Steinhauer, and the latest Discworld novel by Terry Pratchett, Raising Steam.
