After a few weeks of being out of the number one spot on the on the Los Angeles Times Hardcover Nonfiction list, David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell is back in the top spot in its 20th week of release.  The Goldfinch by Donna Tartt is the number one book on the Los Angeles Times Hardcover Fiction or Nonfiction Bestseller List this week as it has been for much of its 17 weeks on the list.

New on the Fiction List this week are Red Rising by Pierce Brown, the first entry in a dystopian fiction series; the latest entry in Jonathan Kellerman's Alex Delaware series, Killer; and Private L. A. by James Patterson and Mark Sullivan.

Almost half of the Hardcover Nonfiction List turned over this week with four new entries, HRC by Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes, which chronicles Hillary Clinton's term as Secretary of State; Operation Paperclip by Annie Jacobson, the story of the top secret mission that brought Nazi scientists to the United States after WWII; The Sixth Extinction: An Unnatural History by Elizabeth Kolbert; and The Triple Package: How Three Unlikely Traits Explain the Rise and Fall of Cultural Groups in America by Amy Chua and Jed Rubenfeld
