Parking Information

The Los Angeles Public Library does not own or operate public parking facilities in the vicinity of the Central Library. In an attempt to assist users in locating reasonable parking, the Library has negotiated reduced rate parking at the lot listed below. Validation rates are in effect ONLY during the hours the library is open to the public. We cannot validate parking for cars entering prior to the Library's opening or remaining after the Library is closed. If visitors enter or leave the garage when the library is closed, they will be charged the Market Rate for the entire visit, even with library validation.

524 South Flower Street Garage

Parking validation is available at the Library Information Desk (first floor), patrons can obtain validation upon presenting a LAPL library card. The validation is a barcode imprinted on the parking ticket.

Please Note: A new parking payment process is in effect for the Westlawn Garage at 524 S. Flower Street. Credit card or debit cards payments can be made at the exit gates. Cash payments can only be made at the P-1 level of the parking garage before returning to your car. More information is available at the Westlawn Garage Parking Office and the Library Information Desk. The Westlawn Garage is not owned or operated by the Library.

$13.00 Daily Early Bird rate for cars entering before 9:30 a.m.
$37.60 Maximum Daily
Weeknights (4 p.m. - 8 a.m.); and on weekends (4 p.m. - 6 a.m.): $4.15 every 10 minutes with a maximum of $8.00 per day

Handicapped Access and Parking

The Central Library is fully accessible to the disabled throughout the building. Flower and Fifth Street entrances have ramps.

There are two options for parking for the disabled:

On the south side of Fifth Street close to the Fifth Street entrance to the building there are two parking spaces (with no meters or charges) for vehicles with disabled placards.

In addition, the commercial parking lot at 524 S. Flower Street has the disabled parking symbol on its sign. The spaces are available immediately to the right as you enter the garage. Validated parking for people using the Central Library is available in the 524 S. Flower Street garage beneath the Maguire Gardens. To obtain a validation, you must show your Los Angeles Public Library library card at the Information Desk on the first floor during regular Library hours. Library cards are available free of charge.

Public Transportation

The Metro Blue Line and Metro Red Line both have stops near Central Library. Most buses which come downtown stop near the Central Library. Check the MTA web site for rates, routes and schedules.

Transportation around downtown Los Angeles is easier if you take the DASH.
