We celebrated Bike Week 2015 by featuring some of the fabulous librarians who bike to work every day. In case you are not our friend or follower on social media, here's the recap!

Great moments in history and popular culture happen every day, and ON THIS DAY will share a few of them with you. We'll also point you to related resources in our collection, helping you to discover classic films, musical favorites, and historical tidbits. The primary focus will be on our e-material -- e-books, e-audio, and downloadable and streamable music and film -- but physical books and DVDs will also be part of the fun.

Welcome to ON THIS DAY! Each day, we'll look at a few moments from history and popular culture. We'll show you where you can rediscover classic movies and music, or read more about great moments in history. We'll point you to e-books, downloadable and streamable music, e-audio, and magazines; and of course, we haven't forgotten about physical books or DVDs.

There is a centuries-old Japanese flower arrangement art form, known as Ikebana (生け花, "living flowers"). The word comes from the Japanese word ikeru (生ける, "keep alive, arrange flowers, living") and hana (花, "flower"). Other translations of Ikebana include "arranging flowers" and "giving life to flowers." Please join us for Japanese Flower Arrangement on May 17, 2015, Sunday, from 1:30 - 3:00 p.m. in the Meeting Room A of Central Library, to see this beautiful art form introduced and demonstrated by Ms. Yumiko Kikkawa. It's a free admission and everyone is welcome!
