GAB (“Grandparents and Books”) brings adult volunteers and children together to share the love of reading. For over 15 years, GAB has been offered at the Los Angeles Public Library’s Central Library and branches citywide. It has become a model for other reading programs throughout the world.

Here’s how you can become a part of GAB:

Become a GAB Volunteer Reader GAB Readers encourage children to experience the fun of reading. Volunteers make a six-month commitment to read with children two or more hours a week at their local branch or the Central Library. Volunteers also receive training in techniques to make reading come alive. Bilingual readers are welcome. GAB Workshop Schedule and Application

Bring your Child to a GAB Reading GAB can help children succeed. When children share stories with a GAB reader, they improve their reading skills, enrich their imaginations and develop a life-long love of reading.
